Join Jerry Stahl (Twin Peaks, Permanent Midnight), Peter Iliff (Under Suspicion, Point Break), in conversation with pulp author, Gary Phillips (Los Angeles Noir, The Jook). Find out how they sleuth for stories, and how their lives intersect with their craft to help them create dark, edgy drama that gets picked up by the studios and published in print.

About Scott Reynolds:
Scott Reynolds is a television writer who has written for the Fox series The Following, The Showtime series Dexter and the Bruckheimer television series E-Ring. He is a consulting producer on The Following and was a supervising producer on Dexter. Scott was nominated for a Writers Guild of America Award for best dramatic series for his work on the third and fourth seasons of Dexter. He has also created/written the comic book UTF (Undead Task Force) with Tone Rodriguez for APE comics. He also has hosted popular podcasts for both Dexter and The Following. His work on Dexter earned him both WGA and PGA award nominations. Scott is currently a Co-EP on the upcoming Marvel/Netflix show, Jessica Jones.

About Jerry Stahl:
Author, journalist, and screenwriter Jerry Stahl has written eight books, including the memoir Permanent Midnight (made into a film with Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson), and the novels Pain Killers and I, Fatty (optioned by Johnny Depp). Former Culture Columnist for Details, Stahl's widely anthologized fiction and journalism have appeared in a variety of places, including Esquire, The New York Times, Playboy, The Rumpus, and The Believer. Most recently, Stahl edited the anthology, The Heroin Chronicles, published by Akashic Books in January 2013; and his latest novel, Bad Sex On Speed was released in January 2013 by A Barnacle Book, an imprint of Rare Bird Books.

About Peter Iliff:
Having sold or been hired to write over 50 film and TV projects for six figure fees, Peter Iliff has written under contract for nearly every major studio and TV network in Hollywood. He broke into Hollywood's A-List while working as a waiter, when he sold his spec script, "Point Break," to Ridley Scott and Columbia Pictures in 1987. Peter's produced feature films include "Patriot Games" with Harrison Ford, "Under Suspicion" with Gene Hackman and Morgan Freeman, "Varsity Blues", and last year's "Rites of Passage" with Christian Slater, which he also directed. Peter has also script-doctored films such as Guillermo Del Toro's "Mimic" and James Foley's "Fear" staring Mark Walberg. He has worked with many of the filmmakers who inspired him to get into the business including James Cameron, Kathryn Bigelow, Ron Howard, John Woo, Martin Campbell, Phillip Noyce, Richard Donner, Stephen Hopkins, John McTiernan, Nick Broomfield, and Guillermo Del Toro. Peter has also sold eight television pilots and is currently working in the writing room of his new crime drama series he created for Netflix with the producer of "Entourage" and director of "The Fast & the Furious."

About Gary Phillips:
Gary Phillips has inked several novels and graphic novels, including The Jook, The Underbelly, Big Water, The Rinse and Warlord of Willow Ridge. He has edited anthologies such as Black Pulp, The Cocaine Chronicles and Orange County Noir, and his short stories have appeared in Politics Noir, Los Angeles Noir and The Heroin Chronicles. His novel Violent Spring, set after the '92 riots, was previously optioned by HBO, and The Perpetrators and the graphic novel Midnight Mover have also been optioned. He teaches creative writing in the Antioch University Los Angeles MFA program.
