Slow Food Russian River: A Slow Dinner @ Bistro des Copains
Bistro des Copains
Occidental, CA
Share this event:

This dinner has been canceled.

Slow Food Russian River invites you to join our table at Bistro des Copains in Occidental to celebrate those local farmers, ranchers, chefs and restaurant workers who work to make our food system better, cleaner and more fair.

A table host represents Slow Food Russian River.
       * The menu is appropriate to the season and locally sourced where possible.
* The serving staff is knowledgeable about the menu, the sourcing and restaurant food philosophy.
* The chef, where possible, visits the diners during the meal to talk about the menu, the sourcing and restaurant's food philosophy.
       * The table setting is designed by Slow Food Russian River and reflects Slow Food ideals and the goals of the Three Sisters Project.

Menu: The chef is still sourcing produce. Working locally with small producers this happens occasionally. The menu will be four courses. The first course will be some sort of a salad featuring a green such as Bibb lettuce or Tatsoi. The next course will be something on the warmer side such as a tart, flatbread, or other type of warm appetizer. The main course will most likely be local salmon or halibut. And the final course will be a dessert such as panna cotta, local fruit galette, etc.

$15 of the ticket price benefits The Three Sisters, the high school garden program of Slow Food Russian River. This year's Three Sisters School Garden Project has expanded to include four high schools, including Piner High School in Santa Rosa, Laguna High in Sebastopol, El Molino in Forestville, and one more to be determined.

***

Slow Food envisions a world in which all people can access and enjoy food that is good for them, good for those who grow it and good for the planet.

We oppose the standardization of taste and culture, and the unrestrained power of food industry multinationals and industrial agriculture.

Our approach is based on a concept of food quality that is defined by three interconnected principles: good, clean and fair.

GOOD: a fresh and flavorsome seasonal diet that satisfies the senses and is part of the local culture.
CLEAN: food production and consumption that does not harm the environment, animal welfare or human health.
FAIR: accessible prices for consumers and fair conditions and pay for producers.

Slow Food believes food is tied to many other aspects of life, including culture, politics, agriculture and the environment. Through our food choices we can collectively influence how food is cultivated, produced and distributed, and as a result bring about great change.

Informed and selective consumers become co-producers by demanding food that is good, clean and fair.
