RISE: FINDING LOVE THE HARD WAY
Writer/performer Scott Barry brings his 2nd solo show

R  I  S  E:
F I N D ING
LOVE  T H E
H A R D WAY

to San Francisco for a one-night only performance

Told with brutal honesty and self-effacing humor, RISE is a semi-autobiographical seriocomedy about a 40-something loser-at-love on a desperate quest to regain his lost mojo (so to speak), find love, and experience the ultimate happy ending.

But first he must deal with his petulant penis, free internet porn, bitter ex-girlfriends, Candy the all-nude stripper, enlarged breasts (his), poisonous soy beans, morning wood, a prescription drug phobia, estrogen vs. testosterone, a truck load of self-doubt, and losing his virginity -- twice.

Scott Barry's first solo show, Solo Gig Squared, about his attempt to play quarterback for the SF 49ers played to sold-out houses and rave reviews and was nominated for solo performance of the year by the Bay Area Theater Critics Circle.

"A brilliant Joycean reverie."  SF Guardian
"A beautifully written & constructed jazz riff." SFBayTimes
"Stop-time power of a perfectly thrown spiral." SFChronicle
"Hilarious." San Jose Mercury News
"Engrossing." Oakland Tribune

Not yet reviewed, audiences have said of RISE:

"Funny, endearing...full of heart."
"Terrific show. Scott Barry is electrifying. This one will stay with me for a long time."
"Awesome performance... a great personal journey."
"Love the wisdom and the laughs."
"His delivery was perfection. The crowd loved it. A lovely story."

RISE marks Scott's 10th play and 2nd solo show as a produced playwright, screenwriter, and solo performer.  Scott's adapted screenplay, Rollover, was optioned by Academy Award-winning actor/producer Michael Douglas. He recently adapted the best-selling novel, The Green, for NYC based Hawker Entertainment. Scott wrote & directed the short films Answer Man and Anonymous M. and was a member of the Actor's Studio in Los Angeles. He has a degree in engineering from U.C. Davis, where he was an All-American quarterback and NFL draft pick of the San Francisco 49ers.
