Leading Ladies
The year is 1958 and two down-on-their-luck, English, Shakespearean actors are so hard up for work that they are touring the rural countryside of the East Coast performing in unappreciative Moose Lodges. While passing through Pennsylvania, our intrepid duo (Leo Clark and Jack Gable) hear about a dying millionairess (Florence Snider) who intends to leave a bulk of her fortune to her long-lost sister's children, Max and Steve, who were last seen moving to England. Leo manages to convince Jack to go along with the scheme only to discover that Max and Steve are actually Maxine and Stephanie. For two million dollars, they decide the risk is worth it and off they set for York, PA in Shakespearan drag! When they arrive, they do their best to fool Florence's neice (Meg), her fiance (Rev. Duncan Wooley), the matriarch (Aunt Florence), her doctor (Doc Meyers), his son (Butch), and his girlfriend (Audrey). But complications arise when the Reverend starts getting suspicious and our two leading men--er--ladies, start falling in love!
