Hi! Join us for another "Bal Folk" in Guelph. European Folk Dancing with a focus on French traditional music and dance! Fun group and partner dances.
No partner or experience necessary! The dances will be taught in advance at the workshops and you can jump in during the "Bal" too!
AT GUELPH YOUTH DANCE, 42 Quebec St.
Schedule: 6:30pm - Doors open
7:00-8pm Dance Workshops
Studio A (3rd Floor) Introduction to Bal Folk Dances (if it's your first time or you'd like a refresher)
Studio B (2nd Floor) Variations and Deeper into Bal Folk Dances (If you've done the intro workshop before once or twice. You don't have to be an advanced dancer or remember every dance, but if you've already learned the basics at our previous events and want some tips on variations and ways to elevate your dancing experience join us for this workshop!)
8:15pm-9:30pm EVERYONE in Studio A! Social Dance with Boing Boing Zoom Zoom, Southern Ontario's Leading Estonian overtone jaw harp and harmonica Bal Folk party duo. (And also Alan and John will play tunes on accordion and fiddle too.)
After Party Bal Folk Jam at La Poche (come join in on the tunes, have a drink and listen to the jam, and/or keep dancing!)
Feel free to bring a snack for the potluck snack table! Please, nothing that might stain their beautiful maple floor :)
IMPORTANT NOTES: **Outdoor shoes are not permitted in the Guelph Youth Dance Studio. Please bring non-scuff indoor runners or dance in your socks!
**The outside doors to Guelph Youth Dance Studio must remain locked. Please plan to arrive between 6:30pm and 8pm when we will have someone there to let you in. If you arrive after 8pm, there will be a number you can call that you will receive after purchasing your ticket. (Workshops start at 7pm)
**Remember to bring your own water bottle
**Wear your fall colours!
