Reception w/ Patric Verrone (Futurama producer and ex-WGA president!)
Patric Verrone is running for State Senate in LA. We know his good work even if we don't know his good name. He was a writer for the Tonight Show and a writer/producer of Futurama and a billion other things. He was the president of the Writer's Guild during the 2007 strike. Remember how fighting for residuals for writers for content in new media was a big deal? Thank him.
Helping him get his message out to win a campaign for State Senate in a wide open race with no incumbent is a chance to elect one of our own. How often do we get to vote for a comedian or comedy writer to become our legislator? Tom Ammiano, Al Franken, and...?
He'll be in town, so writers, artists, comedians, filmmakers, and other content creators and culture workers can come together, have a drink, meet the guy, and kick in a few bucks to get him across.
