The ChalkFest event transforms The 400 Block sidewalks into a colorful display of drawings. Since 2004, this annual art festival has showcased artists of all ages and wowed art enthusiasts who observe the creative process and enjoy the finished art. CHALKFEST SCHEDULE:
Pre-registration is required. Costs $35.
Chalk spaces are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. No cancellations or refunds. Each artist receives a box of 48 pastels and an assigned space. For participant rules and other details, go to www.wausauevents.org/chalkfest
SPACE SIZES: SMALL - (4 x 4 to 4 x 6) MEDIUM - (5 x 6 to 6 x 7) LARGE - (6 x 7 to 7 x 9)
Registration for Featured Artists begins April 24th with a Code. {If you are a featured artist, you will receive the code to choose your square that week.) Registration for all other participants opens at 9 pm on MAY 1, 9PM
CHILDREN'S CHALKFEST SCHEDULE: Saturday, June 28, 9am - 4pm Sunday, June 29, 9 am - 4pm
No registration is required. Kids under 12 can explore their artistic talents with two options.
Option 1 - For $5 you get a box of colored chalk and the use of a small chalkboard Option 2 - For $10 you get a set of 12 pastels and a sheet of paper you can take home.
RULES OF PARTICIPATION: - Artwork must be appropriate for public viewing. NO full nudes, advertising, business, school, or political logos, or political statements/symbols of any kind are permitted. Religious proselytizing including religious text, scriptural quotations is not permitted. - NO oil pastels, spray fixatives, glitter, chemicals, or painting mediums are allowed (except water). - NO drawing on any walls, steps, vertical surfaces, open spaces and concrete bollards. - If you are using an awning over your artwork, do not infringe on other artists spaces and public walkways. When you are working on your art, make sure to stay close to your space and keep all personal items near your square. When you are finished, you must allow 10 feet between your artwork and your sitting area or support tent so the public can walk up to and stand in front of your drawing without intruding on your personal space (your sitting area/ support tent/shelter, chairs, larger coolers, etc. should be behind the yellow line on the grass). No staking tents into grass within 3 feet of all sidewalks and other marked areas due to underground irrigation and electrical systems. - NO personal vending, selling, or re-selling of any products or commodities - All participants must create their artwork within the designated event time frame of Saturday through Sunday. The timeframe may be adjusted due to weather. - At the end of the event, (Sunday 4pm), everything must be removed from the 400 Block, including all plastic, tape, and square stickers. - Do not cover your artwork up when you leave at the end of the day unless approved by a ChalkFest Committee member. Refer to the rain protection guidelines.
The ChalkFest committee will enforce the rules to ensure fairness for all participants. Any participants found in violation may be disqualified from awards or asked to leave the event.
