November/December Sustainability Gathering: Sustainable Organizing and Mutual Aid
On Sunday, December 1st, we'll be having an in-depth discussion on mutual aid. In the aftermath of yet another disappointing election, many people are turning to mutual aid and community organizing as a way forward. During our discussion, we will go over what mutual aid is (and isn't), how to integrate and show up in established groups, how to do longterm/lifelong organizing, and how to gauge your capacity and engage in community care and self care to avoid burnout. We will start the day with a brigade to tend the garden of one of our community members (you'll be amazed what this can do for your nervous system!) from 10am-12pm, followed by snacks and a discussion from 12-2pm. The event will be held in Union Park/East Orlando. Register for the address.

This event is free! Registration helps us know who is coming and how much food we'll need to prepare. Please note that this Sustainability Gatherings is taking place on December 1st, which is a SUNDAY instead of the usual Saturday! This monthly event is co-hosted by Blue Trunk Community Network and Central Florida Mutual Aid.
Blue Trunk Community Gardens goal is to maintain a sustainable operation by practicing ecological sustainability and providing members of the community  with knowledge of the importance of agriculture, community and trade. "Growing Food and Power Through Sustainable Arts and Culture." https://www.instagram.com/bluetrunkcommunitynetwork/

Central Florida Mutual Aid is a collective of regular folx in Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties practicing mutual aid. We center the voices and needs of those most impacted by systems of oppression. For CFLMA, mutual aid has three crucial elements: collaborating to meet each other's needs, having a shared understanding that the systems we live within are oppressive and not meeting our needs, and working together to strategically address root causes and bring about radical change. https://www.instagram.com/cflmutualaid/
