Bellevue Chamber Chorus' Ben Luedcke, Artistic Director presents:
Second Concert of 41st Season On the Origin of Species!
EXPERIENCE MUSIC HISTORY IN ACTION tracing the development of musical style as we examine how composers of different historical style periods set the same text. Hear one of the earliest settings of the Salve Regina from Renaissance composer Johannes Ockeghem, then a version by Romantic composer Herbert Howells written four hundred years later, followed by a 21st-century setting by South African composer Franco Pinsloo. Other works include Magnum Mysterium, Ave Maria, Crucifixus, Lux Aeterna, and Singet dem Herrn by notable composers Tomás Luis de Victoria, Palestrina, Antonio Lotti, Johann Sebastian Bach, Hugo Distler, and Morten Lauridsen.
