Maureen, a forty year old spinster with a history of mental illness, lives with her selfish and manipulative mother, Mag, in Leenane, a village in the West of Ireland. When Mag is courted by Pato Dooley, a lonely construction worker, Mag does everything in her power to keep her daughter to herself. The Beauty Queen of Leenane is a dark comedy about the desires of the heart and the innate need for human connection.
