Based on true events, American Violet tells the story of Dee Roberts, a 24 year old African-American single mother of 4 living in a small Texas town, barely making ends meet. Based on the uncorroborated word of a single dubious police informant, Dee soon is charged as a drug dealer, in a sweeping drug bust in her housing project.
