Introduction to Cycle Touring
The journey of a lifetime begins with one small push. Long distance tours are a magnificent way to get back to the simple pleasures of the bicycle and nature, taking in breathtaking scenery, while also slogging away through the mountain of challenges that await you.
This two day course takes place over two mornings in May: Saturday 3 & Sunday 4 May, 11am - 2pm. You will get tea, coffee, and knowledge, as well as one year's membership to LBK if you're not one already. (If you are one, be sure to use your membership number for a £5 discount)
Day 1: How to prepare for your trip
The right bike Planning your route What to bring with you Physical training & mental preparation
Day 2: During your trip
How to pack Eating & Drinking Emergency repairs The ride itself What could possibly go wrong?
Your instructor Anna Hughes is a seasoned tourer, and will show you how to avoid the pitfalls and enjoy the peaks of long distance touring, no matter where you're going.
Please note that if you're doing a tour we urge you to have background knowledge in basic bicycle maintenance. Basic maintenance won't be covered in this class, but you can take one of our Introduction to Maintenance classes (http://lbk.org.uk/index.php/classes/introduction-to-maintenance/)
May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, and may the sun shine warm upon your face.
Happy trails!
