The Historical Society of Rockland County Invites You to Join Us for "Tragedy and Triumph:
Early Civil Rights in Rockland: A Hillburn 'Walk through History'
DATE: Sunday, March 30, 2014
TIME: 2:15 pm (rain or shine)
PLACE: Meet at the Ramapo Central School District Administration Building, 45 Mountain Avenue, Hillburn. (The building is white and beige; the nearest cross street is 4th Street)
ADMISSION: Free (donations greatly appreciated)
Travis Jackson was entering the fourth grade when Thurgood Marshall came to Rockland County to help in the desegregation of the Hillburn schools. Dr. Jackson will lead this informative walking tour around the village of Hillburn and describe the important civil rights event that took place in 1943.
