Programming, Planning and Practice :: ARE Workshop
This workshop will cover the Programming, Planning, and Practice Division of the Architectural Registration Exam. The workshop provides information about the application of project development knowledge and skills relating to architectural programming; environmental, social, and economic issues; codes and regulations; and project and practice management.  There will be a vignette study to cover site zoning and regulations.

James McLane, AIA
Mr. McLane is Associate Principal of Architectural Resources Group, Inc. in Pasadena, CA, a firm which specializes in Historic Preservation and Historic Architecture.  He is also the Chair of the Historic Resources Committee within the American Institute of Architects, Los Angeles Chapter.  Mr. McLane has over 30 years of experience in architectural design, building, project management, and historic preservation.


Heidi Creighton, AIA LEED AP BD+C EBOM
With more than 13 years of experience in the design and construction industry, Heidi Creighton specializes in sustainable technologies and the LEED certification process. She provides sustainability consulting services including master planning, 3rd party certification management (such as LEED and the Living Building Challenge), post occupancy evaluation, and social equity design. Heidi is a registered architect and a LEED AP with BD+C and O+M specialties. She specializes in sustainable strategies and green certification within the academic, healthcare, commercial, and residential sectors. Heidi is currently serving on the Board of Directors for USGBC-LA.


Michael Hricak, FAIA
Mr. Hricak has more than 30 years of experience in design, programming, construction and management and founded his own firm, Michael Hricak Architects, in 2004. Mr. Hirack is a graduate of USC and Harvard University, Graduate School of Design. He also serves on the Board of Councilors at the USC School of Architecture and is a Member of the Alumni Council for Harvard University, Graduate School Of Design.
