Book Binding Workshop: Intro to Coptic Bindings
Join Book & Paper Conservation Technician Anna Shepard in the Huntington conservation lab and learn the basics of multi-section Coptic bindings- one of the earliest bound structures. Students will sew a simple Coptic binding with pre-cut sections and boards and learn how to adapt this structure to other materials at home. This structure makes for wonderful journals and sketchbooks, with no need for adhesive.
Previous craft/bookbinding experience is helpful but not necessary.
