Berks Movie Madness Film Festival: John Updike Night with "Rabbit Run"
Saturday, October 7. 7:30 p.m. $10 admission. Celebrate this special night recognizing one of Reading's and Berks County's most famous artists--author John Updike. See "Rabbit Run," based on his novel, and a film never released on video or DVD. "Rabbit Run: stars James Caan, Anjanette Comer and Carrie Sondgress. Also featuring the short "A&P," an interview of Updike by the Boston Globe and 8mm film shot by Con Karlson on the set in Reading in 1969. "Rabbit Run" was the only major feature film ever shot in Reading. It premiered at the Fox North in October 1970. All followed by a great panel discussion covering Updike, the movies and more. Moderated by Dr. Robert Metzger and featuring George Hatza, Sister M. Pacelli, Richard Androne, Lisa Eichhorn, et. al. Hopefully some of the original local cast members will also show up.
