Join us for our 06-07 season. Performances will include:
WILD ORANGES - an evening with Third Angle and Turner Classic Movies October 27 & 28, 2006 | 7:30 pm Lincoln Hall, Portland State University
Third Angle teams up with Turner Classic Movies to perform a new film score composed and conducted by Vivek Maddala, accompanying the classic film Wild Oranges. This silent film was directed in 1924 by King Vidor, who later directed The Fountainhead and Northwest Passage, and is the latest Turner Classic Movies project to feature original compositions by young composers. Look for the national broadcast of Third Angle's recorded performance next fall on TCM.
DO THE TANGO AND GET ARRESTED January 25 & 26, 2007 | 7:30 pm Lincoln Hall, Portland State University
Third Angle welcomes back our dear friend Murry Sidlin and bandoneon virtuoso Coco Trivisonno for an evening of traditional and nuevo tango music, including excerpts from Astor Piazzola's masterpiece Maria de Buenos Aires. The program also features Robert Rodriguez's hilarious chamber opera Tango, a historical account of the tango craze of the 20's, and its denunciation by the church.
HEARING VOICES - Third Angle at the Wonder April 27, 2007 | 8:00 pm Wonder Ballroom
Third Angle returns to the Wonder Ballroom with a program of music and spoken word, featuring Fredrik Rzewski's epic Coming Together, and Aaron Kernis's Four Seasons of Futurist Cuisine.
