About...

Rubber Uglies were a rock band from New Castle, Delaware from the years 1988 to 1993.

Biography...

"Sometime around 1988 we formed a band and named it "The Originals". But there was already a band from Devonshire named "The Originals" so we had to change our name to "The New Originals" ---wait a minute, that's the wrong story. Anyway...........Somewhere, a long time ago in a not so far away basement, there was a band named "The Infamous Titties". The "Titties" were a group of young, bright eyed, rag-tag muffin tops who made a noise. They made noise with instruments like; drums played by Curtis McCardell, guitars played by Shawn Dangerfield and big bass guitars with only four strings played by big Kevin Cheeseman. Through natural attrition, alien abductions, spontaneous combustion and other various and sundry problems(mostly legal), the band evolved into a strange and soupy entity that became "The Rubber Uglies". Kevin decided to stay because his big guitar was far too big and heavy to move. And since every band should have a t least two Kevins, Kevin Rafferty joined to add his special touch of attitude and poetry. In the mean time, Ricky Potts had moved in with his drums and it was good drumming. People came from Michigan to play guitar like the way Jeff Neberman came and played guitar from Michigan for a while. Rick Napolski had long curly hair and played like a bluesman. He should play guitar in the Uglies. So he did for a while. But a while doesn't last forever and the Uglies ended up having two lonely guitars with no one to play them. Being the philanthropic souls that the Uglies are, they scoured the streets to find someone in need of a musical home; and in the bottom of a smelly dumpster behind babies-r-us, there, cuddled together trying to stay warm, were two very good guitar players(Phil Young and Mark Stallard) who just needed to be needed, so the Uglies decided to need them. Then things got really special..."
