The Rhode Island Writing Project, in partnership with Cranston Public Schools, is offering a Summer Writing Camp for students entering grades 6-9. This program will take place at Western Hills Middle School from July 7-11, 2014.
Staffed by Cranston teachers as well as educators from the RIWP, our camp will help students develop their academic and creative writing as they share their work in a lively, interactive, and supportive community.
A typical day at camp will include:
*Writing exercises designed to jumpstart thinking and improve each writer's craft
*Exploration of the work of published authors to use as models in a variety of genres
*Freedom to explore individual writing interests
*Opportunities to collaborate with instructors and peers and to receive constructive feedback for revision
*A space for students to see themselves as writers with individual voices
