Ingle-Cleland House Tour

Docomomo US/WEWA invites you to visit the Ingle-Cleland residence in Seattle. The property is a stellar example of a remarkably intact mid-century modern house. We thank the Cleland family for opening up the house for our organization's first in-person home tour since fall of 2019.

Completed in 1951, the Ingle-Cleland house is a masterpiece of mid-century modern organic architecture. Named for its two owners, John and Joyce Ingle and Bob and Molly Cleland, it was designed by Illinois-based architect William Beye Fyfe, who as a child absorbed the architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright and later studied with him at Taliesen. The house has been loved and cared for by its two owners, sympathetically remodeled and expanded by architect L. Jane Hastings, and is surrounded by gardens of native plants, rooting the house to the Pacific Northwest. The house is a simple, two-story rectangle sited to take advantage of views of Lake Washington, the Cascades Range, and Mount Rainier.

WHEN: Saturday, March 11, 2023, NOON to 3 pm. Due to limited on-street parking, this tour will accommodate up to twenty people per hour. When you purchase your ticket through brownpapertickets.com you'll choose the arrival time (NOON, 1, or 2 pm). You'll have about 45-50 minutes to explore the house and grounds.

WHERE: The house is in Seattle's View Ridge neighborhood. The address will be revealed once tour tickets have been purchased.

COST: $10 (plus $2.09 service fee) per person. All tour income goes toward future programs.
