About
Kayla Brown and Dan Hurwitz, fresh off eleven straight rejections at both national and international film festivals for their debut short, the award-eligible This Is Spinal Injury, will return to their rootsstand-up comedy. This live comedy show features Brown, Hurwitz, and an ever-changing cast of fellow local comedians!

Kayla Brown
Kayla Brown (she/her) is a disabled activist and amature comedian from Seattle. She believes that art and other media forms are a way to break down stereotypes, build community, and transform peoples worlds. When not at work or school, Kayla co-produces the comedy show The Disabled List, plays video games, reads fanfiction, and eats snacks.

Dan Hurwitz
Dan Hurwitz is a disabled, Black, and Jewish writer, comedian, and filmmaker. In 2018, he co-founded The Disabled List, an ever-growing group of disabled comedians from the Pacific Northwest. Dan was a semi-finalist in both the Laughs Comedy Competition (2019) and the Stand-Up NBC comedy competition (2019). During the Covid-19 pandemic, Dan co-wrote, co-directed, and co-starred in This Is Spinal Injury (2021), a mockumentary about the trials of disabled artists during quarantine, which premiered at Northwest Film Forums Local Sightings Film Festival in September, 2021.

Accessibility

Ticketing, concessions, cinemas, restrooms, and our public edit lab are located on Northwest Film Forum's ground floor, which is wheelchair accessible. We have a limited number of assistive listening devices available for programs hosted in our larger theater, Cinema 1. These devices are maintained by the Technical Director, and can be requested at the ticketing and concessions counter. The Forum does NOT have assistive devices for the visually impaired, and is not (yet) a scent-free venue. Our commitment to increasing access for our audiences is ongoing, and we welcome all public input on the subject! If you have additional specific questions about accessibility at our venue, please contact our Patron Services Manager at maria@nwfilmforum.org
