Mr. Vilchez is a seasoned trainer and recognized leader in the field of violence/gang prevention since 1992. He is a highly sought consultant, trainer and public speaker with the ability to engage and capture audiences in a fun yet focused manner, both in English and in Spanish. He has held a variety of positions working in conflict resolution, gang mediation, youth development and community engagement. He has coordinated national gang peace summits, co-founded the anti-bullying program KLEAR (Kids Learning Empathy and Respect), structured multiple gang mediations and developed the Strengthening Neighborhoods Program, that is now a model for law enforcement and neighborhoods working together to reduce street violence. He is also a founding member of the San Mateo County Violence Prevention Network.

In 2008 Alejandro was recruited by Belle Haven School to lead the Community School Initiative. As the initiative Director he facilitated a five-year partnership between the City of Menlo Park and the Ravenswood City School District. His oversight encompassed the implementation of all student support services including; prevention, counseling, parent involvement, adult and early literacy, family support, after-school programming and high school transition. He orchestrated twenty active partnerships and co-supervised eight staff from outside agencies that provided direct services on campus.

Today he serves as a consultant to schools and non-profit organizations seeking support in the areas of safe campus climate, team building, community schools, youth development and cultural understanding/humility. His approach is based on the belief that communities are safer through interpersonal communication, cultural understanding, personal responsibility and community engagement.

He is passionate about helping people resolve their conflicts and equally passionate in teaching others to do so. Around the community he is known as "Mr. HOMIE", (Helping Others Move Into Excellence), a moniker he humbly accepts as he acknowledges young people as they are and helps them see past their current circumstances towards a positive, move life affirming future.
