Saturday, March 1, 2014

Octavia's Brood members will lead people of color through an interactive workshop that acknowledges historical resilience and how to imagine a future that was not imagined for us, so it must be created and science fiction is a tool.

OCTAVIA BUTLER & EMERGENT STRATEGY SESSION IN SEATTLE
Saturday, March 1, 2014
3:00pm -5:00pm

"emergence is the way complex systems and patterns arise out of a multiplicity of relatively simple interactions. it emphasizes critical connections, authentic relationships, listening with the body and the mind. in emergence, the whole is a mirror of the parts. fractal  the health of the cell is the health of the species and the planet. there are examples of emergence everywhere." --adrienne maree brown

"emergence is the way complex systems and patterns arise out of a multiplicity of relatively simple interactions. rather than laying out big strategic plans for our work, many of us have been coming together in community, in authentic relationships, and seeing what emerges from our conversations, visions and needs." --Social Justice SciFi Reader Excerpt

Come and strategize and dream about a future that is not yet imagined that we can create within Seattle. This will be an interactive session facilitated by adrienne maree brown and based on the context of Seattle and moving us towards a collective future.
