Ferocious Intimacy
Humans are designed to connect with others, and feel more alive and satisfied when we do.  This February Ferocious Intimacy workshop will be formatted specifically for couples, and will be an opportunity to drop deeper with a chosen partner.

Couples attending need not be romantic partners.  The workshop is for all types of couples. You might attend with a dance partner, or a co-worker with whom you want to be more coordinated, or anyone whom you are interested in getting to know better. The practice would be appropriate for long-term committed couples exploring fresh realms of connection, as well as for more recent couples seeking bonding experiences.  You will spend the bulk of the day with your partner, adventuring and playing together in new domains.

This workshop explores resonance between people. With a minimum of talking, we use body movement exercises to first ground into our own sovereignty as autonomous and powerful agents of our own lives. Next we engage in playful interactions to create safety and attune with your partner, such as sharing our center of gravity and other forms of mutual interdependence. Finally, we find ways of co-operating, of engaging in playful and fierce and tender forms of connection.

Human beings evolved as "hyper-social" animals, and we have pre-programmed brain circuitry and hormonal responses that enable us to directly feel into another person, and to have them receive our deep presence. We are wired to thrive on emotional sharing with trusted others, and feel more fully alive and satisfied when we connect in such a way.

Through this exploration we develop neuronal pathways of pre-conscious patterning that allows us to stay connected in intimacy even when things get too intense or too close for comfort.

This workshop "expands the container" for a relationship, giving you both tools and vocabulary for asking for what you want, showing up as yourself, practicing receiving another in a way that feels safe for both, and being present and attuned.

Ferocious Intimacy workshops create a safe container in which every part of your animal nature is welcomedthe wild, fierce parts and the fragile, tender parts. Everything about you has room to be accepted, expressed and loved in our shared yearning for intimate human connection.

Workshop fee for a couple is $150 (sliding scale to $95). The workshop is valued at $150, but if that fee prohibits you from attending, then pay what works for you. Work trade arrangements are also possible for fee reduction. These fee accommodations are so that no one who wants to attend needs to hold themselves back. After all, this is a workshop about showing up!

FAQ's:
What should I wear? Anything that you would wear for a movement such as Ecstatic Dance, 5 Rhythms, or a yoga class or the gym would be fine. Nothing pokey like sharp belt buckles or dangly earrings. I don't want to introduce any performance pressure, but know that you receive karmic bonus points if your apparel has elements which illuminate your inner superhero! The workshop practices expressing your personal poweryou may as well dress in a way that makes you feel heroic!

What should I bring with me? There is no convenient water fountain, so bring at least one water bottle, two would actually be easier. Also, because we expend a lot of energy, you will want to bring some finger food snacks such as fruit, nuts, juice, energy bars, or other light, sustaining foods.
