Keynote remarks will be provided by First Gentleman Marlon Reis followed by an interactive discussion with Dr. Marc Bekoff, world-renowned author, Professor Emeritus of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (CU-Boulder), and Co-Chair of the Jane Goodall Institute's Ethics Committee; Sarah Spensieri, Animal Control Supervisor for the Boulder County Sheriff's Office; Ann Walton of Animal Emergency Response and Emergency Operations at the Douglas County Sheriff's Office; and Janee Boswell, Director of Education and Partnerships with Code 3 Associates.
From our states worst wildfires on record to catastrophic flooding and furious bomb cyclones, a lot has happened since Broken Shovels became a sanctuary in 2017. To face a future of unknowns, we hope to become a centralized location for people in sudden and urgent need of assistance with their farm animals. In addition to making the the sanctuary more sustainable and impervious to weather-related natural disasters, this fundraiser will assist in the establishment of a cutting-edge quarantine and intake center for displaced farm animals
We have a generous anonymous matching foundation to double your gifts at this event, so that life-saving care can begin as soon as possible. Your attendance and financial support are most appreciated and will ensure the needs of this innovative program will allow us to fill a critical infrastructure gap, help us to do what we do best, and to do it even better.
