The Shape of Things
Attraction. Intimacy. Love. Art. How far would you go? The Gestalt Theatre Project follows its acclaimed debut production of Lee Blessing's Eleemosynary with Neil LaBute's The Shape of Things. Known as one of the most provocative voices in theatre and cinema over the past 20 years, LaBute offers a distinctive rhythm in his dialogue spoken by characters that range from uniquely vulnerable to uncommonly cruel. The four college students at the center of The Shape of Things are no different. When an awkward and insecure part-time museum security guard meets a beautiful girl intent on making a statement through vandalizing part of the collection, his life rapidly begins to change. We are faced with the question, "What is art?" And we begin to sense a subtle edge of danger as we ask, "What is the cost?"
