Elements | Student Design Competition
Join us as WAM hosts its third annual design competition, in collaboration with University of Minnesota's College of Design. This year, participants will create a ready-for-the-runway garment inspired by the exhibition of Siberia, a collection of photographs that offers glimpses into Russia's far eastern territories from Russian photographers.
Designs will draw upon the landscapes, materials, textures, and traditions of Siberia, while also responding to the environmental questions the region raises. Over the course of their design process, contestants will consider topics such as, sustainable design; environmental, ecological, and labor support structures in the garment industry; and how garment production exploits or depletes these systems of support.
Doors at 6:00 p.m.
Runway show at 7:00 p.m.
