What is Star Power?
StarPower, a simulation that can help participants develop new perspectives on understanding equity. StarPower is a learning opportunity to explore individual feelings & behaviors as well as group dynamics regarding power and privilege. Star Power will deepen your understanding of self and the exploration of individual insight/reflection in the context of group learning.
It is not possible to describe the StarPower simulation in much detail without diminishing the experience and with that said because it provides insights about equity it can be uncomfortable, as is the case with many powerful learning situations. For these reasons it will be both important and valuable for participants to bring a strong appetite for learning and debriefing. It will be an opportunity for you to experience first-hand and help us to assess the application of Star Power in the leadership development work you do.
What is the benefit of StarPower?
We believe that leadership development practitioners will benefit from exposure to tools and resources that will help us have constructive conversations about power with participants of leadership programs.
Who should attend and how many participants will be allowed?
We are inviting leadership development practitioners and consultants who will be in the Bay Area on February 27, 2014. For this to be a fruitful experience we would like to have at least 16 participants and not more than 24. We ask that all participants clear time to participate for the full 3.5 hours because debriefing the experience together will be critical to learning from the simulation and collectively figuring out potential applications. If there is some agreement that the simulation would be helpful to your program, LLC and our facilitator would organize a future opportunity to train Leadership Development practitioners in implementing Star Power themselves.
