Event

In the Heart of the Beast's Puppet Lab: Emerging Artists
Curated by Alison Heimstead
February 28-March 2, 8pm, and
March 7-9, 8pm.
Tickets $12 for each show, $20 for the two weekend package.

PuppetLab is a bold program that supports emerging puppet artists in their quest to push outwards at the limits of figure theater. Puppet Lab artists for 2014 are Rachel Olli Johnson, Rachel Jendrzejewski, Theo Goodell and Seth Eberle!

Puppet Lab artists are paired in groups of two, and each group has one weekend of shows. You can purchase tickets individually or as a package that will allow you to see all five artists.

FEBRUARY 28 - MARCH 2

Echo More Strongly
Theo Goodell and Rachel Jendrzejewski

Echo is lost inside a piano, trying to understand where she ends and the landscape begins. Paper puppets, found objects, sound, light, and text dance to conjure a surreal reimagining of "Echo and Narcissus" from Ovid's Metamorphoses.

Moonstruck: An Improbable Romance
Olli Johnson

She knows the moon is in love with her.  But how does she tell the moon the love is requited?  Seek the answer in this imaginarium of winding thoughts, as a love correspondence with the moon unfolds through mechanical pictures, crank-able curiosities, and story boxes.

MARCH 7-9

Odyssey: The Soles' Journey Home
Seth Eberle

Follow in the footsteps of animated shoes as they leave home and journey to find their way back. Odyssey: The Soles' Journey Home is a series of stories collected from happenings around Minneapolis/St. Paul and told through multiple forms of puppetry.

The Lie
Margaret Burger

When the boy next door is thirsty, Polly busily concocts the perfect drink. Gulp, gulp, gulp. But little does she know that what happens next could yank the shadows right out of this true-life puppet opera!

ASL/AD interpretation available upon request.

A Note On Ticket Policy:
Please plan to pick up your will-call tickets no later than 10 minutes before the beginning of a show.  Late seating will be accommodated if possible, but if the show sells out and you have not picked up your tickets by the time it is starting, we reserve the right to re-sell them.  Tickets may be picked up starting an hour before each show, and we will be serving refreshments in the lobby (and are located near several restaurants), so beat the rush and then treat yourself!
