Broken Shovels TENTH ANNIVERSARY PARTY
On August 20th, 2012, we moved our first goats to Dahlia Street, our first very own forever home for this band of rag tag wanderers. Wed lived on borrowed abandoned moonshiner land in Appalachia that was suddenly purchased and a road built through our home with just a few days notice, and then rented a lovely farm back in Colorado which unbeknownst to us was being repossessed from the landlord. We truly needed a place we could make our own, to control our own destiny and become the rescue and sanctuary you know today! We dont know how we did it, but here we are!
This party will have food available from Mora Pizza and The Hungry Treehugger, kombucha from Three Kings, and music with Annette Conlon. And of course, snuggles with more than 500 animals of 23 species rescued from abuse, neglect, and abandonment whove come here to live their whole lives beautifully.
We hope youll come celebrate with us and help raise money to keep the sanctuary and all of its animal residents forever safe and loved. This is a huge milestone and we cant wait to share it with you!
Come out and have the greatest evening helping us tuck everyone in and making meaningful connection with some of the sweetest animals in Colorado, rescued from neglect, hoarding, abandonment and slaughter. A great time for all ages!
Each guest must have a ticket, regardless of age.
Tickets are non-refundable. If dangerous weather prevents the event from happening, we will reschedule or offer a rain check for a future event.
No food or beverage for animals or humans are allowed at this event.
No companion animals are allowed anywhere on the sanctuary.
Visitor Guidelines:
Broken Shovels Farm Sanctuary is a safe place for animals rescued from abuse, neglect, slaughter and exploitation. We do not breed or sell animals. Occasionally, animals are rescued already pregnant and they and their children will live out their lives here, never to be separated, sold or used.
While you will have lots of time up close and personal, petting animals, this place is not a petting zoo.
You have been invited into our animals safe space. We expect you to treat them with kindness and respect. You are visiting their home; they are not here for human entertainment. Not every animal is going to be friendly. Please leave them alone if they do not want attention.
Understand that there are animals here in various stages of recovery from injury or illness. We work with a vast network of veterinary specialists that provide the best care for the animals. Your perception of conditions of what is considered acceptable may not actually be in the best interest of the animal or parallel what our care-taking priorities are. We welcome any questions you have about the animals.
