Lula Washington Dance Theatre - 2022 Summer Showcase
The Lula Washington Dance Theatre is proud to present its 2022 Summer Showcase, a culmination of our 4-week Creative Expressions and Youth/Teen/Adult Intensive Training Programs.
This year returned to a 5-day a week intensive program from our previous three days a week last year due to COVID. The students have done an amazing job!
This culminating showcase will demonstrate the students hard work and what they have learned from our with our current LWDT professional company members, company alumni and local dance masters including Lula Washington, Tamica Washington-Miller and:
Billy Goodson, legendary Los Angeles Commercial/Hollywood Choreographer, (https://www.societydanceacademy.com/billy-goodson)
Malik Sow, Founder and Executive Director of Futa Toro Drum and Dance Ensemble who taught traditional West African Culture, drum rhythms, songs and language. (https://www.musiccenter.org/experience-learn/experience-learn/for-schools/educational-performances-and-assemblies/performing-artists-roster/futa-toro-west-african-dance-ensemble/)
Tarakiki Womak for dancer with Lula in the RWanda Lewis in the 1970s. Tarakiki taught Afro-Latinx diasporic traditional dance.
Khilea Douglas LWDT Company Alum, Ailey Company alum, taught Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Mindfulness and Body Conditioning.
Eliezer Rabelo also an LWDT alum, taught Pilates Mat, Horton Technique, Traditional Brazilian dances.
Company teachers include: Ongelle Johnson, Kozue Kasahara, Danny Guererro, Quron Clarks, Kaitwan Jackson, Company Apprentice, Creative Expressions workshops).
Additional Alum include: Ken Morris and also LWDT Ballet Master, William PG Grintton.
