Beethoven's "Mass in C" and Forrest's "I Thank You God"
This spring the Chorale will perform Beethoven's Mass in C (Op. 86), along with Dan Forrest's "I Thank You God for Most This Amazing Day." The Mass, now not performed as often as some of Beethoven's other larger works, was composed to a commission from Prince Nikolaus Esterházy II in 1807. Six years later, critic E.T.A. Hoffmann wrote of the Mass that it was an "expression of a childlike serene mind, which, relying on its purity, trusts in belief in God's mercy and pleads to him as to a father who wants the best for his children and fulfills their requests."
Ryan Tibbetts will conduct the singers and orchestra, and nationally-renowned organist Daniel Stipe will accompany and perform.
Please plan to attend and enjoy the classical as well as the contemporary with your entire family!
