Justin J. Murphy-Mancini is an organist, harpsichordist, and composer. He is Artist Faculty in Organ at the University of Southern Maine and serves as Director of Church Music at the First Religious Society, Unitarian Universalist, in Newburyport, Massachusetts. He maintains an active interest in the music and performance practice of Renaissance music, the organ music of Charles Tournemire and his students, and of living composers. As a composer, Justin writes both for amateur and professional musicians, aiming to incorporate themes and ideas from the Middle Ages into contemporary contexts. He earned degrees in performance, composition, and philosophy from Oberlin College and Conservatory of Music, where he studied primarily with Jack Mitchener, Marie-Louise Langlais, and Webb Wiggins. He earned a Ph.D. in composition at the University of California, San Diego, where he was mentored by Katharina Rosenberger, Natacha Diels, and Rand Steiger.
