Peeling Madness
Suffering from postpartum depression, a woman is kept confined in a room. Provoked by this isolation, she slowly loses herself in an imaginary world. Written by Jacqueline van de Geer, and performed by Marissa Blair, this monologue is based on the themes of isolation, hysteria and myths surrounding motherhood. Inspired by the short story The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman, the performance reveals who this woman might be if she lived in our time.
