Carolyn Shapiro
Carolyn Shapiro opens the Jackos Corner Concerts with an intimate show in Salem, New York.
Carolyn is an old-time banjo player whose sound is rooted in the old-songs of Appalachia. Trained in the clawhammer style of banjo, Carolyn blends tradition with her own unique sultry flavor. Her songs feel both familiar yet entirely new, with honest lyrics that are inspired by the world around her. She is currently nominated for the prestigious Capitol regions Eddies Award for Folk Artist. She has recently sold out shows in notable listening rooms including the Mother of them all, Caffe Lenas in support of her first record,Where Im Supposed to Be.
Jackos Corner is a small plates kitchen, bar and social space founded by a group of passionate, community-focused Salem locals with a goal of creating a new spot to enjoy great food, wine and beer in a chic and friendly setting.
The original Jackos Corner was founded in 1919 by Jacko Tomasi as a candy store and ice cream parlor. Situated promptly at the corner where Main Street intersects with West Broadway in Salem, NY, Jackos is and always has been so much more than just a store. It is a fixture in the community; a beloved gathering place for all ages.
We are excited to bring Salem the next iteration of Jackos, by honoring its roots that were inspired by Tomasis love for the community, but with a modern twist.
