Helltown - A Comedy Showcase 4/9
Welcome to Helltown, a weekly comedy show case featuring the best local and professional comedians from across the country. Each week Bombs Away! Comedy presents 3 featuring comedians and 1 headliner, all of whom are comedians we love and can't wait for you to see. If you have ever wanted to say "I saw them when" this is your 'when'.
Why Helltown? In the late 1800s, our beloved community of #Northside45223 was nicknamed Helltown, because of the immigrant and unwelcome population and its rowdy bars. It was seen as a negative moniker. At Bombs Away! We believe that the unwelcome, the rapscallions, the neer-do-wells and the rowdy taverns are what make Northside home.
This weekly show is hosted by Wayne Memmott and Bridget Denman
March 26th Showcase
Headliner - Jake Ford and Ella Horwedel
Often described as raunchy, irreverent, and a disappointment by her mother, Ella Horwedel has been an energetic force in the Michigan comedy scene for the past four years. She has performed at clubs all over Michigan, including the Ann Arbor Comedy Showcase and Mark Ridley's Comedy Castle, where she explores the difficulties of being a 23 year-old woman through bawdy stories and intimate self-reflection. She has opened for the likes of Luis J. Gomez and Kurt Metzger, and was a featured performer at Des Comedie Festival in Des Moines, Altercation Comedy Festival in Austin, and Skankfest South in Houston. She most recently won runner-up in the Detroit to LA Comedy Challenge.
Jake Ford is an up and coming comedian based in Michigan, and has been performing standup for 7 years. Having a very unconventional youth, Jake has a unique comedic perspective, and bases his humor on a lot of the horrible situations we all have to face in life. His style is often described as being irreverent but in a clever way that isnt malicious or seeking to offend, he is a succinct joke writer with rapid fire punch lines that leave audiences in tears. Jake is a two time performer at the Savage Henry Comedy Festival, and most recently performed at the 2022 Dirty Show at Gildas Laughfest. Jake has opened for Sean Patton, Steve Gillespie, Deanne Smith and many more.
