About
A reading with Shin Yu Pai and Ken White, whose respective poetry books Virga and Middlemost Constantine debuted in the early pandemic, hosted by Elee Kraljii Gardiner. This reading is both launch and reunion, and though their poems travel on their own, interplay on the themes of power, gender, magic, and time may occur.

Meet the Artists:

Shin Yu Pai
Shin Yu Pai is a poet, essayist and visual artist. She is the author of several books of poetry, including Virga (Empty Bowl, 2021), ENS (Entre Ríos Books, 2020), Sightings (2000-2005) (1913 Press, 2007), Aux Arcs (La Alameda, 2013), Adamantine (White Pine, 2010), and Equivalence (La Alameda, 2003). She served as the fourth poet laureate of the city of Redmond from 2015 to 2017. She is a three-time fellow of MacDowell and has also been in residence at Taipei Artist Village, Centrum, and The National Park Service. Shin Yu lives and works on the unceded ancestral territory of the Duwamish.

Ken White
Ken White is a poet and screenwriter. He co-wrote and co-produced the feature film Winter in the Blood, co-directed and co-wrote the short film Universal VIP, as well as directed and co-wrote the short film The Conservationist. He has written or co-written more than a dozen feature scripts, including Blight, The Wereman, The Sorrows, and Cullens Hound, as well as new scripts, The Orpheum Circuit, The Jennet Device, and a television pilot, LIT, with James Meetze, and most recently the psychological horror Wed the Dark. White is the author of three books of poetry: Eidolon, The Getty Fiend, and Middlemost Constantine. His work has appeared in The Boston Review, Columbia: A Journal of Literature and Art, Omniverse, Manor House Quarterly, Versal, Spork, Horsethief, EuropeNow, Poets.org, and BOMB Magazine, among others. White is an Assistant Professor of Screenwriting at the Writers Workshop at the University of Nebraska, Omaha.

Elee Kraljii Gardiner
Elee Kraljii Gardiner is the author of two poetry books, Trauma Head and serpentine loop, and editor of the anthologies Against Death: 35 Essays on Living and V6A: Writing from Vancouvers Downtown Eastside. Originally from Boston, Elee lives on the traditional and unceded territories of the Squamish, Tsleil-Waututh and Musqueam Peoples, where she works at Vancouver Manuscript Intensive. eleekg.com
