A Country Christmas
MALLORY JOHNSON
raised on icons like Dolly, Merle and Loretta, its no surprise that Mallory wanted to pursue country music. however, hailing from Newfoundland and Labrador, another genre of music is near and dear to her heart celtic music. Mallory started her professional career performing with the 6-time musicnl award winning and ecma nominated celtic family band The Cormiers.
On September 20th 2019, Mallory released two brand new songs as a digital 45 called a Double Shot (produced by Dustin Olyan). The project includes the singles Drunk Mind, Sober Heart which was a finalist in the 2019 International Songwriting Competition and nominated for Best Country Song at the 18th Annual Independent Music Awards, and Hungover which received an honourable mention in the 19th Annual NSAI Song Contest presented by CMT and Martin Guitars and Strings. This project also earned Mallory nominations for Fans choice entertainer of the year and SOCAN Songwriter of the year at the 2020 MusicNL Awards.
Most recently, Mallory collaborated with sister duo Twin Kennedy on a song they wrote together called Wise Woman. The single has already received high praise from publications like The East, The Bluegrass Situation and Billboard: [A] gorgeous tale of vulnerability that strikes just the right chord - Billboard. Coinciding with the single release, Johnson and Twin Kennedy released a powerful music video directed by Cecil Johnson, as well as co-hosted Wise Woman - The Show, presented by The Consulate General of Canada to the Southeast United States. In honour of Womens History Month, the show was introduced by Kirsten Hillman, Canadas Ambassador to the United States and featured world class talent and critically acclaimed Canadian female artists residing in Nashville, TN. In addition to the online premiere, the show was aired as a weekend special on SiriusXM Country.
Mallory is currently in Nashville working on a new studio album with Grammy-nominated producer Kent Wells (Dolly Parton).
CHRIS RYAN
Since the release of his self-titled debut album, Chris Ryan has caught the attention of the East Coast music industry, playing showcases during East Coast Music Week and Music Newfoundland and Labrador Week, along with receiving nominations for "Country Recording of the Year" and "Songwriter of the Year". Chris' songwriting skills allowed him to be part of the 2016 ECMA SOCAN Song House, working with Nashvilles songwriting guru Ralph Murphy. This also led to Chris touring with Canadian country artist Kelly Prescott from Canada to Tennessee, co-writing in Nashville and signing a publishing deal with ECMA award winning publishing company Sound of Pop. Chris was recently selected to participate in the 2019 edition of the Canadian Song Conference's "Canadian Songwriter Challenge", co-writing with artists from across Canada in Charlottetown, PEI.
Chris was an East semi-finalist in the 2018 SiriusXM - Canadian Country Music Association "Top of the Country" Project, was on the road accompanying Sierra Noble for the Johnny Reid "My Kind of Christmas" tour across Canada in November and December 2019 and numerous singles from his self-titled debut album continue to receive regular rotation on radio stations in Canada.
Chris' brand new 2021 summer single "Less of a Stranger" is out now and his previous three singles "Last Forever", "Slow Down" and "I Ain't Mad" peaked in the 60's on the BDS Canadian Country Music chart and have been added to SiriusXM & Stingray channels, as well as editorial playlists on Spotify and Apple Music.
