Fantastical Figurines in Clay
Inviting participants to find imaginative and enchanting ways to express personal or societal burdens and challenge the status quo, the afternoon-long, hands-on making workshop Fantastical Figures teaches students how to construct their very own expressive figures from clay. Employing clay and color, participants will be encouraged to compose a fantastical grouping of figuresinspired by the beautiful and grotesquethat narrates their personal histories and themes of identity, politics, gender, mortality and more. Participants will explore the correlation between the sensitive nature of ceramic sculpture and the delicacy of figural representation in contemporary art.
