Students will learn about physical characteristics and how scientists can use structure to classify animals. In the crayfish (an invertebrate), students will observe and describe an exoskeleton, walking legs and gills. In the perch (a vertebrate), students will observe and describe a backbone, a swim bladder and gills. This fun activity also helps the students realize that they really could become surgeons or scientists!
