Los Angeles Pierce College Theatre opens its 2021-2022 Season October 22 with Oscar Wildes classic comedy, The Importance of Being Earnest. The production celebrates the return to live, onstage performances for LAPC Theatre, which had been presenting virtual productions during the Covid-19 pandemic.  Performances begin Friday, October 22 and continue through Sunday, October 21, 2021 in LAPCs Performing Arts Mainstage.

Mild-mannered Jack is harboring a couple of secrets. First, he is in love with his friend Algernon's cousin, Gwendolen. And second, they both think his name is Ernest. In fact, Ernest is Jack's imaginary alter ego  a troubled younger brother he created so that he could do whatever he liked in London and no one would ever think to judge him. But when Algernon catches on to the scheme, he decides to be Ernest himself in order to woo Jacks lovely young ward, Cecily. Confusion and hilarity reign in this classic crowd-pleaser, complete with mistaken identity, mad extravagance and people who know nothing about love as they plunge headlong into it.

LAPC Theatres production of The Importance of Being Earnest will be directed by Shaheen Vaaz.  The cast features Megan Araneta, Jonathan Bowen, Anthony Cantrell, Tomas Ciriaco, Robert Dracic, Vanessa Hanish, Matthew Hawkins-Bolano, Rachel Logan, Olga Medkova, Danni Rabani and Kayvan Shai. The production features scenic design by Gene Putman, costume design by Eileen Gizienski, lighting design by Michael Gend and sound design by Presley Jacobs. Roya Row is the stage manager.

The Importance of Being Earnest will open in the Performing Arts Mainstage on the Pierce College campus on Friday, October 22 and continue through Sunday, Oct. 31. Performances times are Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and Sundays at 2pm. Tickets are priced at $15 for students, $18 for seniors and $23 for general admission. Free parking is conveniently located in parking lot #6 on the Pierce College campus (6201 Winnetka Ave., Woodland Hills, CA, 91371), adjacent to the Performing Arts Center. LAPC Theatre's venues are fully accessible to those with mobile disabilities and hearing impairments.
