From Odetta to Obama: Celebrating a Changing America
On the historic occasion of the inauguration day of Barack Obama, and as a tribute to the life and career of Odetta, the famed American folk singer whose passionate performances reflected the yearning for a new American dream, Town Hall presents a special gala concert featuring the extraordinary voice of jazz legend Ernestine Anderson. Hosting the evening is performer/disc jockey, KEXPs Riz Rollins (DJ Riz). Joining them are blues singer Chic Street Man, performers from Seattle Operas Young Artist Program (Odetta was a trained opera singer), traditional Negro Spirituals from Sound of the Northwest, and the joyful gospel vocals of the Imani Fellowship Choir.  The evening will begin with a big screen rebroadcast of Obamas inauguration speech at 6:30 pm. Doors open at 6 pm.
