Redwoods Happiness Initiative evening talk
Join for a fun, interactive talk and potluck at Nancy's home in the Redwoods. We will eat together, talk and learn from the executive director of the happiness initiative and each other about the happiness movement.
About the talk:
Laura Musikanski, Executive Director of the Happiness Initiative, will give an interactive talk about the Global Happiness Movement, the use of the Gross National Happiness Index and how it is being used by cities, campuses and communities across the USA. The talk will explore the connection between personal happiness and a new economic paradigm, and include participatory discussions of GNH. Laura will cover the role of subjective and objective indicators and engage the audience in a dialogue about personal, community and political action one can take.
About Laura:
Laura is a co-founder of The Happiness Initiative. She served as the Executive Director of Sustainable Seattle and Sustainability Director for a national environmental consulting firm. She has focused her career on sustainability indicators with the passionate belief that you get what you measure, and its time for our policy makers, businesses and society to measure and manage for the wellbeing of people and the planet. She has taught at the graduate level University of Washington MBA program, provided professional training for over six years and conducted workshops for businesses and government agencies. Laura is author of "How to Account for Sustainability Report: a guide to measuring and managing" and "Sustainability Decoded." Laura is a member of the Bar in Washington State, and has a Certificate in Environmental Management and in Environmental Law and Regulations.
