Shakespeare's Shapely Language Workshop
Woodward Shakespeare Festival is pleased to sponsor their second day-long acting workshop offered to Fresno area actors interested in improving their use of Shakespeare's language. On Saturday, April 4th we will focus on Shakespeare's Shapely Language, an approach to speaking the language of Shakespeare developed by renowned voice and text coach Jan Gist at the Old Globe in San Diego. The cost for a single workshop is $20, $15 for students and goes directly to offset the costs of the workshop.
This workshop will be taught by Jennifer Sampson, a teaching-artist with an M.F.A. from the University of San Diego and a former student of Gist's. Sampson has extensive experience in teaching classical acting techniques having taught and performed with the Old Globe in San Diego, the La Jolla Playhouse and the Summer Theatre Institute of New York City.
"Part of Woodward Shakespeare Festival's mission is to make our offerings as accessible as possible to the community," says Artistic Director Heather Parish. "In that spirit, we have tried to keep the costs of the workshops low. We hope these workshops will eventually grow into a full off-season training cycle for local actors who might benefit from the expertise of a teaching artist"
Pre-registration is highly recommended as a limited number of spaces are open for each workshop. For registration forms and more information on the workshops, go to www.woodwardshakespeare.org and click "WORKSHOPS". For further questions, you can call Program Manager Laura Vogt at (559) 974-5601.
