The Dining Room by A.R. Gurney
The Kings Theatre Department will open its doors back up to the public for its 2021-2022 season with the 1985 Pulitzer Prize for Drama Finalist The Dining Room by AR Gurney. Set entirely in a singular dining room and over the course of a single day, A series of vignettes weave a tapestry of American family values, culture, and traditions spanning the course of the last century; from the Great Depression to the present day. While referred to as a Snapshot of a vanishing culture and a moving evocation of family life past and present by critics, this production will simultaneously archive, dissect, and challenge the ideologies of what it truly means to be an American.
