Alessandro Deljavan: Piano Recital
" As soon as he started, I realized that this was going to be something special so I put my notepad away to allow myself the luxury of experiencing the music as a member of a fortunate audience. 'You had to be there' was never more true."
Those were the words describing his performance this past summer where he played an outstanding performance of Rachmaninoff No.2. Deljavan, the only contestant to participate in Van Cliburn International Piano Competition twice, has a string of accomplishments at ripe old age of...26. Of course, there were others; Gina Bachauer International Young Artists Competition, Johann Nepomuk Hummel International Piano Competition, Isang Yun Competition, to just name a few.
"I heard Alessandro for least four years at the Lake Como International Piano Academy. The academy accepts only 7 students per year, and he has been there for four years. What is so special about his performances is his emotional connection with the music and his ability to project it. He is one of the most major talents of his age that I have ever heard and one of the few pianists that I would go out of my way to hear", says John Perry, one of the most revered piano pedagogue based in L.A.
His performance style has been often described 'charismatic,' so much so that following his performance at Van Cliburn this past summer, Ft. Worth Star-Telegram coined explosion in shouts and stomps after his performances by audience, 'Deljamania.' Born and raised in Italy, Deljavan graduated with a degree from "G Verdi" Conservatory in Milan, followed with his study at the prestigious International Piano Academy Lake Como as one of 7 annually chosen pianists working under the tutelage of William Grant Naboré, Dimitri Bashkirov, Laurent Boullet, Fou Ts'ong, Dominique Merlet, John Perry, Menahem Pressler, and Andreas Staier.
Presented by New Visions Foundation, Deljavan will be performing solo recital inaugurating the Steinway D piano from the Mandell Collection on February 15, 2014 at Ann and Jerry Moss Theater with a special introduction by Maestro John Perry. Deljavan will be performing the following program; Beethoven piano sonata No. 23, Op. 57 "Appassionata", Mozart 10 Variations on 'Unser dummer Pöbel meint', K.455, and Chopin 12 Etudes, Op. 25.
