SOLUS PREMIERE: A Soulless Masquerade
Join us for the official screening of Solus, a Victorian ghost story filmed in Memphis, TN. "Solus" is the story of Lulu, a young girl who is enslaved to a house of the underworld where she is forced to lure souls to feed to the house. Only when she delivers the most valuable soul will she be released into the underworld to rescue her father from eternal punishment. It explores oppression, guilt and isolation in the rich setting of the traditional gothic ghost story intermingled with elements of fantasy and suspense. Its written and directed by local filmmaker Rachel Monique Taylor and starring Haley Dawn Parker.
The event is being held at Mallory-Neely house in Victorian Village in Memphis. In Victorian fashion, well be screening the film on the lawn so be sure to bring a blanket or a lawn chair. Following the film, you'll be invited to explore the historic house where you might find some gothic surprises on each level. You can purchase some spooky gifts from one of the art vendors, have a drink and relax in the vampire lounge, or grab some victuals from a nearby food truck.
It's in the style of a masquerade ball, costumes are encouraged but not required. Just make sure its something in the theme: gothic, ghostly, Victorian, vampiric, etc.
Doors will open at 6 and the film will play at 7:30. And the rest of the evening will be filled with whatever gothic terrors or delights you desire.
