Lafayette Police Citizens Academy
Lafayette Police Fall Citizens Academy
The Lafayette Police Department is now offering registration for our upcoming Fall Citizens Academy. Our academy is a nine-week educational outreach program designed to provide citizens a greater understanding of the inner-workings of their police department and of the role that law enforcement plays within the criminal justice system.
The Citizen's Academy meets one evening per week (Wednesdays) for 9 weeks, from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM (September 1st-October 27th). These classroom sessions will be held in the Lafayette City Council Chambers at 20 N 6th Street, Lafayette, IN.
In addition to the classroom sessions, attendees are encouraged to participate in "ride-alongs" with our patrol officers. This is a great opportunity for citizens to gain a unique perspective of policing, and provides them the opportunity to meet and interact with their police officers.
The class is free. 18 and older only. Does require a criminal background check and fingerprinting - completed by LPD. More instructions will be emailed to participants after registration is completed.
Thanks, Lt. Randy Sherer
