Hear Me! Stand With Me!: Jews and Muslims Standing with Each Other
Hear Me! Stand with Me!
Challenges and Opportunities: A Dialogue of Inspiration and Hope Through Allyship
Sunday July 18, 2021
2:00 PM to 3:30 pm
Pre-registration required NLT 6:00 pm Saturday, July 17th
Planning a program on Islamophobia and Anti-Semitism takes months of preparation. Between the conception of the program and its execution, Israel and Hamas engaged in a short war. This war polarized members of the local Jewish and Muslim Communities, eroding the common ground that had existed previously which, in turn, led to a number of the presenters withdrawing from our program.
The program that remains is, perhaps, the most important part: an example of how some local Jews and Muslims have been engaged in cooperative ventures for some time, and who contin-ue to work together promoting social justice.
Presenters include: Rabbi Anson Laytner, Imam Jamal Rahman, Sister Farida Hakim, and Rabbi Jay Rosenbaum.
Sally Jo Gilbert de Vargas will moderate a dialogue between Sister Farida Hakim and Rabbi Jay Rosenbaum on the Inspiration and Hope Through Allyship
Break Out Discussions: You will be invited to participate in break out rooms to engage one another with deep listening and mutual respect.
This program is a partnership between Northwest Interfaith, the Interfaith Community Sanctuary, Call of Compassion NW, and St. Patrick Catholic Church..
