New Formats Weekend with Bill Mclaughlin
Long form improv has grown well beyond the Harold. Formats can vary from simply different approaches for manipulating a suggestion to start a round of scenes to applying long form technique to a variety of theatrical genres, game structures, and concept exploration, The first part of the Formats Intensive will introduce players to a variety of established formats by work shopping and performing them. We will then move on to using a process of improvisational 'brainstorming' to identify concepts and elements for potential formats. The class will next choose the format concept they want to develop and build it's platform and process. Depending on the number of performers the class will be divided into teams who will work to define and practice their own format. The workshop will conclude with the performance of the new formats.
